Prevention, Healing and Tips!

This website contains carefully researched content meant to guide readers in educated health decisions. Although I am not a physician or research scientist, I am a committed and careful researcher of technical information and share health tips which I have considered and used in my own journey of health as a breast cancer survivor. I am also mindful of citing sources and careful not to plagiarize. If you choose to share the information I have published, please extend the respect of citing this website and my name as the source of the information, or citing the sources I have shared out of respect to your readers who choose to trust you as a source or conduit of information in their own journey of health. - Christy Begien, Non-Toxic Lifestyle (c) 2024 All rights reserved, Denver Colorado.

As we all know, October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. There is a ton of information out there and we are being brought to further awareness each and every day, especially this month. The onslaught of information to help and comfort, while well intentioned, can also bring feelings of fear, helplessness, memories of lost loved ones, and other emotions. I know – I’ve been there.

Today, I would like to continue to share a short list of my favorite cancer resources.

Before I do that though, I invite you to join me in applauding and lifting up those we know who are undergoing any kind of cancer treatment: the caregivers who show and give love in so many ways, the many health care practitioners who provide a smile and treatment “gentleness” each and every day, and the larger medical community in their continued quests for cancer cures.

We all know someone who has been diagnosed, is currently undergoing treatment and those who have bravely fought and lost their respective battles. Let us keep each of these special souls close to our hearts during this month of Breast Cancer Awareness.

My Favorite Two Books regarding Cancer AND Prevention

Christy Begien | Christy's Non Toxic LifestyleRadical Remission – Surviving Cancer Against All Odds
by Kelly A. Turner, Ph.D.

This book focuses on the common denominators of over 1,000 cancer cases, identifying nine key factors that the author found among nearly every Radical Remission survivor.

Christy Begien | Christy's Non Toxic LifestyleBreast Cancer and Iodine: How to Prevent and How to Survive Breast Cancer
by Dr. David Derry M.D., Ph.D.

Here is a review by Jeffrey Dach MD (2006):

“Breast Cancer and Iodine by David Derry MD PhD, is a unique 100 page volume which presents the academic case for iodine as prevention and treatment of breast cancer. The book should be handed out freely during October Breast Cancer Awareness Month.”

He adds:

“With ten pages of medical references including the work of B A Eskin and W R Ghent, Dr. Derry discloses the remarkable connection between iodine deficiency, fibrocystic breast disease and breast cancer. I can report from the experience of my own family members that iodine supplementation causes regression of fibrocystic breast disease.”

Top 5 Chemo Food Tip Sheet

These food tips are based on Chinese Dietary Recommendations, since Chinese medicine works to restore balance to the body. Click here to open this sheet in a separate window.

Personal Note: My nutritionist back in New England suggested that I follow this to help my body process the chemotherapy toxins more quickly out of my body, especially my liver. By doing so, I got my energy back and felt better throughout my treatment plan. For more of my favorite cancer resources, click here.
