Dear friends!  If you’re looking for a Mother’s Day gift that keeps on giving and you have gardeners AND art lovers in your life, here is a perfect gift!! And it’s not too late to plant! I LOVE Hudson Valley seed company and have enjoyed the bounty from their seeds for years. I particularly LOVE their art packs, designs created each year by gifted artists in the northeast region of our country, also celebrating the diverse history of each type of seed.

Started just eight years ago, this small farm has gained a huge following. In 2013, they became certified as both an organic farm and organic handler.   They are a wonderful source for non-GMO seeds, offering many heirloom varieties (those passed down from generations of families or communities).

They offer open-pollinated (by natural means) seeds for vegetable, flower and herb varieties. They are also one of 70 companies that have taken the Safe Seed Pledge, assuring their customers that none of their seeds are genetically engineered.

Their mission is as follows:

  1. To create an accessible and affordable source of regionally-adapted seeds that is maintained by a community of caring gardeners; and,
  2. To create gift-quality seed packs featuring works designed by Northeast artists in order to celebrate the beauty of heirloom gardening.

Hudson Valley Seed Company has an open call out to all artists in the Northeast as they continually introduce new seeds. Their art packs have become an identifying aspect in the world of seed packets. Thus, the title, “Bringing Art + Culture Back to Agriculture” as is their header on their Fine Arts Page. I have not only purchased seeds from the art packs but have also purchased posters for my office. I have included images of my poster purchases along with the artists and his/her name for you to enjoy here.
