I finally found it! An amazing four-in-one skin care facial product that cleanses, removes make-up exquisitely, moisturizes and can be used as a mask as well. And let me not forget that there are no hidden toxic chemicals either. You may ask “Where can I get this incredible product and tell me more!” Billed as a “Best Seller,” this cleansing balm is heaven on my face!! While we love our Colorado climate, it’s dry and really dry during the winter. I have been using this as my daily and nightly moisturizer for months now and my skin has never felt or looked so hydrated! It brightens too!
I was introduced to Kirsten last summer on the east coast. When you meet her it is clear that she is a down to earth woman who also pursues the best in both what she puts in and on her body and offers her family. Her passion in talking about this company really grabbed my attention.
She talked first and foremost about the education aspects of the company since they don’t use any non-toxic ingredients along with the high quality of the products. They aren’t inexpensive but they are GOOD. And they offer products for the entire family! Since the balm is a major multi-tasker, there’s major savings to be had. The Cleansing Balm is my big skin-care splurge, ($80) loaded with cranberry and raspberry seed oils. They don’t include any of the “1500 questionable or harmful chemicals” posted on their “Never List.” It’s also so concentrated that I use a Q-tip (never fingertips to avoid contamination) to scoop out just the right amount each day. A jar lasts a good 6 months, even with daily use.
Without further ado, it’s my pleasure to introduce you to Kirsten and this great company, Beautycounter!
Hi, I’m Kirsten and I was honored when Christy asked me to be a guest blogger! I live in Lafayette, CO with my Kiwi husband, our daughter (12), our son (8) and our exuberant golden retriever, Meadow. I’m a teacher by trade and still work part-time at the dual-language school my son attends.
Two years ago I jumped into a new career as a Beautycounter consultant. Beautycounter is a personal care and cosmetic company with a mission to get safer products into the hands of everyone and decrease our exposure to toxic chemicals. Did you know that Europe has banned over 1,400 harmful ingredients, while the U.S. has only banned 30? It’s crazy, but true.
My involvement with the company came through a friend of mine from book club, who went to high school with Beautycounter’s founder and has been involved with the company from the time it launched. I was hesitant at first, because sales were not in my wheelhouse but after hearing more and more about Beautycounter and its mission, I realized it was the perfect job, because of its flexibility for me, a busy mom. I signed up!
Before I worked for Beautycounter, I was a client and ordered products from my friend. Raised in Boulder by “health nut” parents, I always sought out “natural” products, so I was thrilled to learn that not only were the products safe, but high-performing as well. For many years, in my late teens and early twenties, I struggled with acne, which had a negative impact on my self-confidence. My skin did improve as I got older, but there was a remarkable difference after using the Beautycounter Rejuvenating line. I am now in my mid-forties and feeling the best I ever have about my skin.
Founder, Gregg Renfrew, created Beautycounter with the vision that her own daughters wouldn’t have to read every label, but could trust that all the beauty products they used were safe. It’s this passion that attracts some incredible consultants. I’ve met many inspiring women over the past couple of years. We have consultants from all over the U.S. and Canada from all different backgrounds. The common thread we share is the desire to make a change in the beauty industry. Gregg has provided us all with a wonderful platform on a face-to-face basis to build businesses with a mission to make a difference. “We are not all-natural or organic. We are focused on safety. We make sure we don’t ever say we are perfect. It is about progress.” – Gregg Renfrew.
Advocacy, along with education and commerce, is one of the pillars that Beautycounter was built upon. To that end, Gregg has attended a congressional briefing related to bringing better health protective laws to consumers. The company has also sent a delegation of 100 consultants to D.C. to talk with senators about getting stronger regulations for ingredient safety. As consultants, we hold “socials with a mission” and educate our guests about the lack of regulation. We often ask people to help our mission by texting their senators about the need for better health protective laws.
At Beautycounter, one of our major concerns is the lack of regulation in the beauty industry. Companies are allowed to and do add ingredients that are known carcinogens and endocrine disruptors into products we put on our bodies every single day. Unless we are aware of this and researching every ingredient, chances are, we unknowingly put potentially harmful ingredients on our skin, which are then absorbed, into our bloodstream. This is unacceptable!
I enjoy using effective and beautiful products and as a mom of a pre-teen girl becoming interested in makeup, I am mindful of making sure what we put on our skin is SAFE. It’s a lot of work to be diligent and research every label and that’s where Beautycounter comes in. We’ve done the homework for you and you can feel good about using each and every one of our products. I believe we shouldn’t have to sacrifice our health in the name of beauty. With Beautycounter, you can have it all – safe and high-performing beauty products.
I am now a “head to toe” Beautycounter user. While I have too many favorites to list, I can tell you my “can’t live without products” include Dew Skin, Hydrating Face Oil, Cleansing Balm (4 in 1 product), Shampoo and Lip Glosses. I don’t wear a lot of makeup, but I also think our mascara and blushes are amazing when I feel like going the extra step.

While I’ve found my favorite beauty balm, I LOVE that Beautycounter is taking the next steps to Washington DC and petitioning our government for stronger regulations in the cosmetic industry! This is where I feel we need to be going since so many of us are so busy and don’t have the time or the ability to translate ingredients. I highly recommend you check them out and if you have any questions, or want to try any of the products, give Kirsten a ring! The balm’s the bomb! Just sayin’ 🙂
Peace and Good Health!
