We’ve all heard this saying, “You’re only here for a short visit. Don’t hurry, don’t worry. And be sure to smell the flowers along the way.” Today’s post, Flowers!

It’s mid-summer and aren’t many of us surrounded by beautiful flowers either where we live, where we work or where we are traveling? I think most of us would be hard pressed to say there isn’t a beautiful garden to enjoy somewhere near us. What is it about flowers that make us smile?

Here are some favorite quotes that might help explain our love of flowers…

“Flowers always make people better, happier, and more helpful; they are sunshine, food and medicine for the soul.” — Luther Burbank
“The earth laughs in flowers.” — Ralph Waldo Emerson
“After women, flowers are the most lovely thing God has given the world.” — Christian Dior
“Flowers are restful to look at. They have neither emotions nor conflicts.” — Sigmund Freud
“Deep in their roots, all flowers keep the light.” — Theodore Roethke

Here in Denver, we’ve had an abundance of rain and hail this summer-plants have been beaten down, but this doesn’t stop most of us from heading to the garden centers to buy more flowers to repot in our gardens and containers. It’s these summer flowers that I think of in the midst of cold, wintry days.

Many of you know I love photography. In today’s post, I would like to share with you some of my flower photos over the years. Mine have been taken over the years in trips to the Colorado mountains including Grand Lake and Telluride. Then other fun locations in Italy, Seattle, Denver, Santa Fe and Raleigh, NC. Enjoy!

Wherever you go, each day, I hope you take a little time to stop and admire the beauty of flowers in your life.

Peace and Gratitude for Beauty in our Lives!
