My Holiday “Not-To-Do” List

Posted by:

A number of years ago some friends and I started the conversation of how cool a “Not-To-Do” list would be, even year round. Seems like so many of us live by lists and when one is finished, we create (yes, we do have choices) another. Certainly there are priorities in our respective lives but in looking at this habit/activity, how many of us could benefit from the culling of the list. And the holiday list… Oh my!

Bedtime Rituals for Better Sleep

Posted by:

So here we are, soon returning to Standard Time again.  These twice-a-year “adjustments” tend to affect many of us by disrupting our circadian rhythms. According to Psychology Today, circadian rhythm is often referred to as the “body clock.” The circadian rhythm is a 24-hour cycle that tells our bodies when to sleep and regulates many other physiological processes. This internal body clock is affected by environmental cues, such as sunlight and temperature. When one’s circadian rhythm ...

Summer Fruit – How Much Sugar?

Posted by:

It’s almost time and we’re starting to see more  fruits and veggies are coming into abundance. Each summer I can hardly wait for those big, ripe, juicy organic cherries and grapes to arrive at the markets. Sadly, but honestly, I admit to gorging on more than a few in any one sitting. It’s healthy fruit, right? Well, while they’re healthy, they do contain natural sugars, so it’s important to be mindful in keeping helpings to a palm sized serving.

My Update to Non Toxic Toes for Spring and Summer!

Posted by:

Don’t you love that almost everywhere we women are getting ready to don our favorite sandals and flip flops! Time to really scrub up and get our feet polished up and pretty. Ever notice the chemical odors when applying nail polish? The Environmental Working Group and Women’s Voices for the Earth deem these smells the “toxic trio.” And each of these “toxic trio” chemicals have been classified as the most toxic by the Skin Deep Cosmetics Database that I mentioned ...

My Top 5 Mother’s Day Gifts!

Posted by:

When I think of the many gifts I’ve been blessed with over the years by my children, these are the ones that come most to mind and have been the most treasured. Over the years, my friends will say that the gifts of time and heart stay with them, as well, often longer than the store-purchased goods that retailers push us to buy.

Let’s remind our children that their presence (when possible) and heartfelt creations make for the best presents!

We Need Your Help!

Posted by:

Readers, I need your help!

A few years ago, I posted a very informational piece on the off-gassing present in one’s car, particularly during the summer when the sun and accompanying heat can cause indoor plastic components to off-gas, many of which contain a toxin we all know as formaldehyde. As part of my research, I included a study from 2012 on the least-toxic cars on the market.

The good news is that many manufacturers had noted they were phasing out some ...

Tasty Winter Soups

Posted by:

Hi all,

Many parts of our country are getting hit with snow and cold! Even though our Denver weather is mild, it’s still winter and I find soup one of the most comforting of foods during this time of year. There are so many options for healthy soups and if you make big batches, you can freeze and enjoy down the road. Here are 3 of my winter favs. Enjoy!

Words Matter

Posted by:

It’s been a while since I’ve written. Call it COVID-brain or whatever, but I’ve been more in a reflective mode these past few months than a writing mode. First and most importantly, I hope all of you and your loved ones are staying safe and well during this time. This pandemic truly tests us daily in mind, body and spirit. While our lives have certainly changed during the past 10 months, the one thing that hasn’t changed are the January ...
