Posture Alignment to the Rescue!

Posted by:

Did you know that many of one’s “aches and pains” can be attributed to poor postural alignment? Believe it or not, foot, knees, hip, back, shoulder and neck pain can all be attributed to walking incorrectly and leaning to one side or the other without even knowing it. The good news, and I speak from personal experience, is that MOST of these issues can be treated successfully without analgesics and/or surgery. More good news, you can get help with a ...

Warming Trends

Posted by:

Many years ago, I visited my acupuncturist in New England because I was feeling sluggish and experienced digestive issues following eating most meals. While my diet WAS “healthy,” he pointed out that most of my meals, including beverages, were cold. I’ve always loved green, super salads and iced tea, coffee and water.

He suggested that I try “warming” my foods. Given that it was summertime, I was very hesitant and we know old habits die hard sometimes, right? Fast forward 20 ...

Do Flip Flops = Foot Health?

Posted by:

I confess. I have a pair of flip-flops that I jump into first thing in the morning to go out and water plants. They’re easy and convenient, right?! They offer coolness on these hot days and I think just about everyone I know, owns a pair.  Does that make them good for us, our feet, our bodies? Our feet have 8000 nerves in them, and the average person takes between 8,000 -10,000 steps per day. The human foot contains 26 ...

Egoscue to the Rescue!

Posted by:

Several years ago I wrote about a wonderful pain management protocol that was introduced to me by a good friend. (Thank you, Phyllis Mitz!) I was preparing for a 10-day bicycle trip and my training was just making a back problem worse. One of the therapists, here at Egoscue of Denver, helped me enormously with excellent postural exercises and voila, huge relief and a successful bike trip!

Two weeks ago, my right shoulder blade slipped out of place. This happens twice ...

Magnesium Matters!

Posted by:

In the past few months, several friends have commented on their insomnia, night leg cramps, depression, migraines and brain fog. Did you know that these can often be symptoms of magnesium deficiency? Did you know that magnesium is the fourth most abundant mineral in the human body? It truly plays a big part in the health of one’s body.

Even when we think we’re getting enough nutrients through our food, we may actually be deficient. Outside of bone, the highest tissue ...

The Spoils of Oils!

Posted by:

I use them when I bathe and shower, as room fresheners in diffusers, and as daily uplifting or calming modalities. Lots of us also love their fragrances in potpourri.  They are wonderful as part of natural cleaning products. I also use them in my Reiki practice, and I’ll bet many of you who practice yoga have experienced them in class in one fashion or another. Many of us enjoy them in herbal teas too!

Essential oils offer so much. Did you ...

Now, more than ever, I am convinced that we can’t truly offer love to others unless we offer love to ourselves. Heal Yourself – Pain Management that Works!

Posted by:

What would you say if you knew that a pain management program had a remarkably high success rate? And what if the program could treat you without drugs or surgery? What if it’s also simple and involves no heavy equipment?  I’d say, “tell me more!”

While training for a summer week-long bike ride a few months ago, I injured my back. I was in major pain a mere month out from our trip. The fact that I have a childhood scoliosis ...
